Rest Day

I normally try and control my compulsive buying. I mean I've been tempted for sure to buy things because of their claims and tonight I took that leap of faith and bought a Phiten bracelet. I've always been interested in these magnetic bracelets with their claims of increasing blood flow, pain relief and increase energy. So here it goes. I hope this thing lives up to it's claims cause I can sure use some pain relief.

Rest Day???

I decided to make today a rest day and sleep in. Cool thing was I woke up around 5am, so it looks like my body clock is getting used to the early morning wake up calls. Now the thing that sucks is I'm feeling guilty for not working out. My shoulder feels a bit wrecked, but I have this desire to go workout.

I have until 11:30 to decide if I'm going to the gym or not. If I do, I'm thinking I'm just going to workout and not roll...OR...I can workout later at the house.

Shiet...I should've just worked out this morning.

*Lunchtime Update*

I lied...I went to the gym. I didn't workout, but I ended up rolling which is a workout. I know I'm going to end up working out tonight.

HAHA.

Stuck with my thoughts

So I just finished my entry on working on my guard. The funny thing is I'm gonna have to sit back and visualize the gameplan for the next week and a half due to injuries and a planned vacation. It's been about 2 weeks since I popped my elbow and it still feels weak and to top it off this past Wednesday I busted my eye open with a cut on my eyelid at my basketball league game.

So I guess the vacation couldn't have come at a better time. Get some rest and maybe get some mental training.

Rest

So I haven't posted in awhile and that's primarily because I haven't been trainig really. I have a half marathon coming up on the 20th and have really focused a lot of my energy on running and keeping my body healthy for it. So I've decided to slow down my training until after the race and pick it up again.

For added difficulty, work is going to pick up next week until the end of February and that's going to make training even more difficult. I'm hoping to make my way out to the gym during lunch and get some rolling in with Mike and Roger.

I guess I'll be watching a ton of videos these next few weeks.

Plan of Attack

After yesterday's run I've come up with a plan for the Carlsbad Half. Initially I wanted to get a good 10 or 12 mile run in Friday or this weekend, but with the grand opening of the gym this weekend I don't think I'll be up for a long distance run after doing so many workout demos.

So I'm planning on getting as much rest in as I can and cutting back on my crossfit workouts and limiting my workouts to just simple push ups, sit ups and pull ups. Monday I'm hoping to get in another 8 or 9 miles in at lunch (10 if it's not busy at work). Then Wednesday and Thursday just get in some nice 3 to 4 miles in.

As for the race, I've been jumping back and forth on how I should run the race. When Ryan and I ran 10 miles we had really got off to a good pace, averaging 8:20/mile for the first 5 miles then taking it down to 8:00/mile for the second 5. This strategy sounds great, but I'm just afraid that those last 3 miles would be brutal. Another idea was just to go out there and book it. Yesterday I did that and ran sub 8 min miles but I could feel how beat up I was. But I definitely think I could have maintained around a 8:00 to 8:05 / mile pace. My gut says to just warm up with the first 5 miles and stay around 8:05 to 8:10/mile pace and then just go after that and hopefully average sub 8 after.

Rest Day

I woke up this morning cold and tired. Three days of "2 a days" just killed me. My whole body hurts from Angie. My flat feet are dying from yesterday's stair run. Looks like I'm gonna get some much deserved rest today...WAIT...why not just roll for a bit at the gym. HAHAHA. So much for rest...

Rest Day

Not by my choice, today is a rest day. I had planned on running this morning but we had to take our dog to the vet around 7am only cause the wifey had a meeting at 8am and could not be late to. So that threw a huge monkey wrench into my training. To top it off, typically on Wednesdays I run the stairs but today the office is having a luncheon to celebrate the quarter we just filed as well as welcome two new people to our department. Looks like the stairs run is being pushed to Thursday. This sucks...but I'm thinking I might try and run around the neighborhood tonight anyways.

Now onto some cool stuff. Found this on the Sports Guy's column. Now how cool would it be for this guy to make it to the NBA. I heard his nickname is "Mutha" cause he's a bad...SHUT YO' MOUTH.
