07.14.10 - Training

Warmed up with takedowns.  I hate takedowns, probably cause I suck at them and have only one takedown that I like to go to.  I need to look more into takedowns and throws w/ the gi.

Reviewed the Escape to Omoplata from Tuesday.

A couple of finer points Mike discussed on finishing the omoplata:

- release your legs to "chop" down on their neck to push them down
- if it's loose, take the back or attack the neck w/ an eziekiel
- when climbing the back pin elbow on back

7.13.10 - Training

Sidemount Escapes to Omoplata

1.  Shrimp to Omoplata
- remember to pinch knees on top of shoulder

2.  Bridge and Roll to Omoplata
- let them roll into you

3.  Spin to Triangle / Omoplata
- spin w/ legs wide enough to get their neck
- pull them into the triangle

Finishing the Omoplata
- secure the belt
- if they expose their back (sit on butt) climb the back
- if they posture, use belt as a securing point and drop elbow between their knee and you.  scoot out

3.31.10 - Training

Gi

Anthony gave me some ideas for my clip game:

- tight on trapped arm (meaning controlling w/ far arm too) if taking back
- loose if looking for arm/triangle/omoplata
- if playing loose, need the leg to clip shoulder
- use a cross collar and near wrist control when playing open, pull into clip
- when pulling lawnmower back, it's not all the leg whip. remember to straighten bottom
- when using that grip, use knee to control opponent
- use feet more when playing open

All this stuff is burning holes in my brain.

- omoplata
- look for triangle as well

Guillotine Variation
- cross collar grip and belt control
- create angle and use lat to choke

Drilled from this spot and got a round in with Jon.

Leg Over Pass:
- maybe freeing the leg is done by the "dragon whips it's tail?"

Omoplata

7am class (gi)

Omoplata

Entry

- sleeve control
- slide one knee in
- push knee and pull other wrist
- chop with other leg
- butt scout out
- control hip and finish

Take the back

- open when opponent straightens arm
- control sleeve
- slide far leg in (establish hook)
- hop over to take back

Sweep (roll under them)

- opponent grabs own belt
- must be parallel w/ opponent
- near arm slides across their belly (not through their grip but under)
- extend legs and sweep
- as if rolling under them
- variation, grab foot and sweep (difficult when opponent has good base)
- use butt scoot to lure them in and then sweep

Notes from rolling:

- keep working hip bump to triangle transition, try and get faster at it
